Disco radio, live and free

Strings that soar, basslines that strut, and a four-on-the-floor kick that makes standing still impossible. This is disco radio the way it should sound: live, loud and joyful.

Why disco never died

In 1979 critics declared disco dead. They were wrong. Disco went underground, mutated into house music in Chicago and garage in New York, and quietly became the DNA of nearly every dance record made since. When Daft Punk, Dua Lipa and The Weeknd brought disco back to the charts, they weren't reviving it. They were admitting it had been there all along.

What plays on NeonWaves disco radio

  • Classic disco: the 1970s and early 80s anthems that filled Studio 54 and the Paradise Garage.
  • Funk and boogie: the slap bass and synth grooves that bridged disco to the 80s.
  • Nu-disco and disco house: modern producers chopping, filtering and re-imagining the classics for today's floors.
  • Italo disco and space disco: the cosmic, synth-heavy European side of the story.

When to tune in

Chic, Donna Summer, Sylvester, Gloria Gaynor, Earth, Wind & Fire, Sister Sledge, Giorgio Moroder, Bee Gees, Daft Punk, Purple Disco Machine, Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue, Roisin Murphy and the edit-makers keeping the mirrorball spinning.
